How to Structure a Resume Bullet (Action, Scope, Result)
Every bullet that lands has roughly the same shape. An active verb. A scoped object. A measurable result. Once that pattern is in your head, drafting a publishable bullet takes about a minute.
Open with what you did
Start with a verb that names ownership. Led, shipped, built, designed, negotiated, restructured. Skip "assisted in" and "worked on." They read like you were in the room but not in the work.
Name the thing precisely
Be specific about the object. "Design system," not "systems." "Mid-market book of 28 accounts," not "a portfolio of clients." "EKS cluster with 80 services," not "production infrastructure." The scope is what makes the result believable. Without it, the number floats.
Close with a number and a baseline
End on a measured outcome that includes a comparison. "Cut p99 latency from 480ms to 290ms," not "improved latency." "Held GRR at 96% across 38 mid-market accounts," not "strong retention." Numbers without baselines feel made up. Numbers with baselines feel real.
Do this, not that
